Their sound is a blend outlaw folk, country, bluegrass, the Dead, power pop, spoken word, and almost anything else they find lying around. They packed the house at the Connecticut Yankee on a rainy Saturday night and had everyone singing to their twang version of Tom Petty's "American Girl."-Jose Segue Hicks with Sticks website and DJ Howdy! are fast becoming one of the hottest tickets in the North Bay. Their brand of music is fresh and unique. It's a combination of sorts; part traditional bluegrass, part jam-grass, part outlaw folk. They are the redheaded stepchildren of the Dead, Willie Nelson, the Allman Brothers, Lynard Skynard, David Grisman, Bela Fleck, and Johnny Cash. Damn that’s a lot of daddies.
